Black Student Achievement provides services that promote the academic success, retention and degree attainment of all students at Georgia State University. Academic support includes:

Academic Coaching
Academic coaching is centered on stress management, time management, test anxiety, career trajectory and more. Black Student Achievement offers walk-ins and scheduled appointments. Please visit Black Student Achievement, Student Center East, Suite 300, or call 404-413-1530 for more information.

Academic Development Study Sessions
Tutoring and homework assistance are available through tutors year-round. Black Student Achievement also provides study spaces and a computer lab usage for those prepping for classes, midterms and finals during office hours. Study skills workshops on time management, overcoming stress and test anxiety are offered to all students interested in improving their grades and academic performance upon request. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Workshops
For students preparing for graduate school, Black Student Achievement offers a three week preparation workshop for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), which explores all three areas of the test (verbal, quantitative and analytical writing). A well trained workshop facilitator will get each participant ready to tackle this all important examination to achieve the score needed for their graduate program. For students that are interested, please visit Black Student Achievement, Student Center East, Suite 300, or email Jonathan Grant.

Law School Admission Test (LSAT) Workshops
The Office of Black Student Achievement’s LSAT course is a free five-week program. The course offers a comprehensive review of the test’s structure and the three sections of the test: reading comprehension, logical reasoning and analytical reasoning. In the final week of the course, students will be offered the opportunity to take a proctored LSAT exam, which will be administered in the same manner as the real LSAT. Additionally, the instructor is available to review personal statements, provide information on the law school admission process, and offer advice regarding letters of recommendation and more. Tutorial Services
Tutoring, homework assistance and study skills are available, free of charge, to all students interested in improving their grades and academic performance. The tutors are graduate students who are selected on the basis of their educational training and ability to instruct in various subjects. Black Student Achievement strongly encourages students to take advantage of the tutorial services well before difficulties arise during the course of study. Black Student Achievement has a tutoring lab that is used for tutoring sessions and is equipped with a SmartScreen.
