Bernard is responsible for the overall mission of the office to promote quality services and programs related to the retention, progression and graduation of African Americans attending Georgia State University. He brings a diverse background in higher education experience having worked for two other University System of Georgia institutions.
Michael A. Kimble, Jr., Student Affairs Advisor II
Mike is responsible for the development and coordination of the social and cultural programming within the office, as well as the facilitation of the leadership development initiatives through individual and student organization interaction. He oversees the Black Student Leadership Institute and the Black Male Leadership Academy, which is a partnership with Georgia State University’s Decatur Campus. Mike also advises several student organizations which include Black Sophomore Society, Black Student Alliance, Conscious Collective, Peerless Perfexion, STARS at GSU and the Zeta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Having previously worked for his alma mater, the University of Kentucky, he brings several years of higher education experience to his advising position.
Jasmine Kelly, Student Affairs Advisor II
Jasmine is responsible for coordinating the academic support programs within the office. Having a diverse background in academic affairs and diversity work, she brings a wealth of experience to the position and takes pride in assisting students in developing into the best possible versions of themselves.
